Parenting Class Tip: Children can more easily adjust to a divorce if the parents are able to be civil with each other (at least when the child is present) and put their child's needs first, ahead of their own. The child may be less anxious if you keep them in the same home, school and activities. If the parents can agree on discipline when the child is in the other parent's home (bedtime, what movies, tv, and activities are allowed, etc.) it will help relieve stress between parents and give the child some needed stability. To learn better ways of handling separation see our co-parenting classes or divorce classes for teens
